Grief and Loss

Rituals and other forms of acknowledgement are important when faced with the end of something such as a relationship, a chapter of your life, a part of yourself, or whatever else may be coming to an end. It is crucial to process these losses in therapy so we can learn from our experiences, find new meaning, and hopefully identify what we’ve gained in the process.

Specifically for expats, every time they leave a country, they lose friends, family, customs, traditions, objects, a sense of comfort and so much more. However, we don’t often realize how deep these losses hurt, especially when we're used to moving. These losses can stay with us and in the long run affect how we establish relationships, how much we’re willing to commit, and how we say goodbye.
