About Me
Hi, I’m Camila. I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Art Therapist, but what defines me the most is my multicultural upbringing. Growing up I didn’t know this meant I was a Third Culture Kid, someone that spent their developing years moving from country to country due to their parents’ careers. Though this lifestyle can provide wonderful experiences, such as making friends all over the world, it can also affect your sense of identity, belonging, how you process loss, and how you navigate relationships. A highly mobile lifestyle presents unique challenges on top of our everyday life struggles, especially during a pandemic.
As someone who has had these experiences and also the necessary tools to navigate mental health concerns, I’m especially prepared to work with expats and anyone who struggles to find their place in the world. Together, we can work towards a sense of “home” within yourself and face the difficulties you may be encountering as a foreigner trying to adapt to a new way of living.
My Approach
Although I specialize in the above, I have worked with clients presenting diverse mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma and grief among others; both in Chile and in the United States. I like to work from an integrative approach, using talk therapy and art therapy, depending on your preferences. This means I utilize various theoretical approaches such as humanistic, psychodynamic and person centered, as well as art making. Within a safe and non-judgemental space, my goal is to empower you and support your journey as you find new and transformative narratives.
